Blaze Lamper is a Brooklyn-based artist. She creates, to understand the circumstance of being human: exploring existence, nature, and spirit by creating dialogues with the world around us. She uses materials to create new thoughts, correlations, and relationships.` This artistic expression and wish to engage the world around her through art, also plays out in the t-shirts she makes. Handwritten names of obscure famous figures are scrawled in bold colors. Toshido Mifune, Bianca Jagger, numerous French actresses are painted onto these t-shirts as an homage or an evocation of their spirit. Blaze’s questioning mind and curiosity is infectious. She graciously welcomed us into her studio and her world, where we got a taste of how she works, and the ideas, concepts, and art that inspire her.
